There are a number of different things to do, and places to visit, depending on the length of time available to spend in the city. Often, groups will stop first at our Senior Center, which is itself located in a historical building, the former fire station. Here the group can use the rest rooms, as well as receive an introduction to Port Washington, while sipping coffee or tea, and munching some homemade goodies. From here, if youd like, the group can be taken on a historic tour of the city, with a guide provided. Our downtown was recently named to the National Register of Historic Places, with the largest concentration of pre-Civil War buildings in the state. There are several historic buildings you can tour. St. Marys Church, built in 1888, can be toured, as well as our historic Lightstation with restored light tower and small museum attached. | |
| There are several nice restaurants in town that can handle tour groups for lunch. The prices vary, depending on the food desired. To round off the day, if you want to stay in the area, the group can stroll along the harborwalk (part of the Wisconsin Maritime Heritage Trail), follow the historic walking tours, or do the downtown shops, on their own. The newly opened Interurban Trail runs right through town you can rent a bike, jog, or walk. A little further out of town is a 350 acre nature center, Riveredge, you can visit. There are several nice lodging establishments the group can stay in, and a restored ballroom north of town that often offers dinner theater shows and entertainment. We promise to put together an enjoyable experience for your group!
